Healthy Heart - Low Calorie Diet

Calorie gives the energy to perform the daily activities. If the calorie intake id reduced then the body will burn the stored fat in your body to meet the calorific demand. So the basic principle of low calorie diet is to reduce the calorie intake burn the excess fat. For this reason it is also used to shed excess fat and reduce body weight.

Before going for a low calorie diet one is advised to consult a physician. This diet is meant for the excessive obese person, whose Bio Mass Index (BMI) is more than 30. Children and pregnant women should not go for this kind of diet as it may drastically reduce weight and can cause certain illness such as nausea, fatigue, constipation, diarrhea and headaches. If weight is lost very rapidly then it may result in severe complications such as gallstone

Before starting the low calorie diet observe the following tips

o Before going for the diet plan upgrade your knowledge about the calorie content of all types of foods. You can read different books or search the net for required information.

o Calculate the amount of calorie you will consume each day. This greatly depends on your lifestyle. For inactive people it is around 1800 to 2000 calorie per day. For people with active lifestyle it is around 2600 calorie per day.

o Create a habit of watching the labels of food to know its calorific value.

o Sort out the low calorie foods that you like. This will help you to select the menu at the beginning. Fruits, vegetables, cereals, whole grains, beans , meat, fish, low fat dietary products, skinless chicken are some of the options that can be explored while continuing low calorie diet.

o Distribute your meal into 4 to 6 small servings through out the day. Five servings of vegetables and fruits should be taken in a day.

o Don't go for very low calorie diet. A very low calorie diet permits consumption of about 800 to 1000 calorie per day which is much less than the daily needed value. This rapidly burns the stored fat and loses weight drastically. So you will have to limit your food consumption strictly. If you don't abide by the diet then your body will start storing the extra calories as fat in a fast pace and you will get no prominent result

o When following this diet you should also consume certain amount of carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are rich in fibers which take longer time to be digested and delay the hunger. This helps in reducing your food intake and hence decreases the calorie intake.

o As because you are on a low calorie diet, it does not means that you can't eat what you like. You can eat whatever you like unless you don't exceed the daily calorie limit. Eat in small amounts and just avoid fat.
By observing the above mentioned tips you can greatly reform the eating habits. Dietary supplements are also needed in this kind of diet. However if you face any problem wont waste time to consult a doctor.

Healthy Heart - Major Factors Behind Coronary Heart Disease

Today people are just too unaware about their everyday actions they perform that play a vital role in either helping to minimize, delay or prevent the effect of a coronary heart disease or even make it worst; getting a control over the risk factors is the key. Besides a family history of coronary heart disease, you cannot control this but you can surely control your behavior and delay the time as long as possible to when it might get you. Gender and age factor also play a vital role behind coronary heart disease.

Cholesterol level is the first major factor. Basically cholesterol resembles to a soft lipid fat like substance that works as a fuel source in the body. Atherosclerotic plaque builds up in cases of excessive cholesterol. A heart attack results in due to blockage in the blood flow because of plaques accumulating in the arteries. Bad cholesterol or LDL cholesterol gets transported throughout the body at different sites, hormones get made plus cell membranes get repaired with the use of this LDL cholesterol. It can easily get stuck on your arteries walls. On the other hand HDL or the good cholesterol goes to the liver directly being altered and removed out of the body.

The second major factor behind coronary heart disease is the blood pressure. A less then 130 mm of mercury for the systolic blood pressure and less then 85 millimeters for the diastolic blood pressure is said to be a normal blood pressure level. As this pressure rises because of anything, mostly because of stress or diet, it would put pressure on the brain and the heart. You should regularly check your BP levels. If you are someone normal then going once every year for a thorough checkup would be good, and if you are someone having such problems then regular checkups every month should be done.

Diabetes is the third major factor. It is a chronic disease caused when there is a high insulin resistance or deficiency. Type-2 diabetes is highly responsible for coronary heart disease and it comes because of obesity commonly. This can be prevented by keeping your body in shape, join a gym, exercise regularly, and eat a balanced diet. If you really want to stay away from coronary heart disease then give up smoking if you do smoke, get active in your life and reduce or leave alcohol consumption.

These were just a few major factors behind a coronary heart disease so watch out for everything that might get you in trouble.

Healthy Heart - Effectiveness of a Suitable Diet Plan on a Human Heart

Apart from the presence of strong evidence supporting the theory that there is a deep relation between a diet being high in saturated fats and heart diseases there is no solid proof to it. But to avoid a heart attack, prevent its factors, and live a healthy life, the decisions and choices are needed to be made considering the knowledge available in science today.

Quite a lot of studies say that intake of too many fats are not healthy for anyone; saturated ones especially. A few doctors and professional might argue on this logic but I bet that not anyone of them would say that cutting their intake would be harmful. So why not make this little change in our diet plans and increase a few years of life.

Limiting the consumption of cholesterol and fats is very essential for a healthy heart and there are many ways to accomplish this. Do not eat more then 3 to 4 eggs a week or may be less then that since they are high on cholesterol. Even change your milk to skimmed or low fat. Cream substitutes and whipped toppings need to be avoided since coconut oil is mostly present in them; it is a lot more saturated then butter.

Do not stew or fry meat because this cooking practice does nothing but increase the presence of fats in the processed food. Avoid hard processed cheese and start using yogurt, ricotta, pot cheese, farmer cheese or cottage cheese as substitutes. Make sure when you choose poultry, you pick up younger and smaller birds as they are a lot low at fats or just go with fish instead, that would be the best.

A healthy human body does needs fat as well so it should be present in our diet in a limited range. This fat helps the body in absorbing fat-soluble vitamins along with producing vital fatty acids that our body needs in limited amounts. Whenever you would buy canned or packaged food make sure that you go through the amount of fat content it has. Sometimes the label says fat-free on many items but this does not mean they are a hundred percent fat-free, there is always 0 to 0.5 grams of fat in there.

Just by making some minor changes to your diet you would assure yourself a longer and a healthier life, so what' the harm in that? Nothing!

Healthy Heart - Burning Fat Prevents Heart Disease

In the past five to ten years, young people have not been prone to heart disease. Heart disease is a sickness that is generally for older folks. Times are truly changing and more and more young adults today are now on high risk of having heart problems due to high cholesterol.

The rate of young individual with high cholesterol level, high blood pressure and on the risk of heart attack is now alarmingly high. Due to the way technology changed the way people pace their lives, there is less and less reason for a person to even stand up and walk around for work. You just sit in front of the desk 8 hours a day. You no longer have to walk or ride a bike for you have your own car where you can stay relaxed while driving home. At home, you have a very comfortable bed waiting for you. You do not have the time to walk your dog or visit your neighbors for your television is showing your favorite series. Also, the innovative medications are focusing away from what really matters such as the preventive measures of exercise and proper diet.

If people would just take a time out to focus on their health each day or even just a few days within the week, it will greatly decrease their chance of heart disease. Heart disease is normally caused by obesity, high blood pressure and high level of cholesterol. In order to veer away from those heart problem causing agents, you need to burn those fats.

During exercise, the body creates more amounts of HDL or high density lipoproteins. HDL is the good type of cholesterol. The bad type of cholesterol that you want to lessen in your body is called LDL or low density lipoproteins. The higher the level of your HDL, the lower your LDL will get. Exercise also strengthens the most important muscle in the body, which is the heart. As it gets stronger it will be able to pump more blood. The stronger the pump, the less blood clot you will have, the less chance of heart attack and other heart disease.

Exercise also burns unwanted fat. Not only will you feel healthy, you will look healthy as well. A lean and healthy body is far from having heart complication. The heart will be able to pump blood without cholesterols blocking its way and it gets throughout the body in a faster way.

If these are the benefits of exercise, then why is it that there is still a high rate of people with heart complications? The reason is because most of them just do not have a concrete plan of action. They should insert in to their daily routine a specific time where they are required to exercise. They would have to be determined to stay on target as well. There will be stumbling blocks along the way but if you have the heart do live life to the fullest by remaining healthy, then better stick to your plan.

Healthy Heart - Simple Heart Disease Prevention Tips

Women are less likely to survive heart attacks compared to men. People think that breast cancer is something killing women but heart disease comes a lot before that. So this is why both men and women are at high stakes when it comes to heart diseases and in order to avoid such situations, one should do all what it takes to prevent heart problems. For your concern, I am discussing some simple heart disease prevention tips which are easy to apply in your daily routine.

You should check your blood pressure levels regularly. Narrow arteries promote higher blood pressure level, this happens when plaque gets stuck in vessels. When this pressure increases, particles of arterial plaque get dislodged into the blood stream promoting a heart attack. You can either visit a doctor or purchase a blood pressure monitor to keep a check on you. Your blood pressure should not be too low either so make sure it stays where it needs to be.

Secondly, you must get rid of your excessive weight (if there is a need). Over weight and heart diseases are directly proportional to one another. Start losing weight if you are obese otherwise you are at high risk of confronting heart diseases. Strain on your back, your legs and your heart increases when you carry more then normal weight on your body.

Cholesterol levels need to be kept down. Get your cholesterol levels checked at least twice every year. Artery walls experience plaque deposits when cholesterol is high in the body. Plaque results in narrow vessels boosting the blood pressure. HDL, LDL and triglycerides are the 3 main components of cholesterol. LDL is responsible for these plaques build up while HDL helps in removing them and maintaining the overall cholesterol level. While the 3rd component triglycerides are like a fatty substance in the blood and if their level is high, heart might be at a risk. A cholesterol level of 200 mg/dl is best recommended from doctors.

Make some changes to your diet as well. Greasy and fatty foods need to be prevented along with increasing the consumption of veggies, fresh fruits, low fat dairy products and whole grains. Eat lean beef, fish, pork and seafood for proteins along with taking a multivitamin every day. All this would make sure that your body is getting all the essential nutrients it needs for its proper functioning. Get yourself checked for diabetes as well since it promotes heart disease greatly. Insulin shots and a dietary change might just take care of this problem.

Above mentioned were just a few simple heart disease prevention tips, implement them in your daily routine as soon as you possible can for the sake of your health and a healthy heart.

Heart Attack - What Causes Sudden Cardiac Arrest?

Sudden Cardiac Arrest is commonly referred as SCA that means a sudden cardiac death and you will know why it is called so in just a bit. SCA occurs when a heart suddenly stops beating and it is totally unexpected in many cases. When SCA occurs, blood flow to other vital organs of the body including the brain stops immediately, treatment is needed right at the moment to avoid death.

A fact study shows that over 900 adults die due to sudden cardiac arrests every day in only USA. Around 550,000 deaths occur annually due to coronary heart disease and out of those a big number of 335,000 are results of SCA. It is a lot more then just a serious problem to deal with. Basically an internal electrical system is equipped with the heart controlling the rhythm. Some problems result in arrhythmias in this electrical system or abnormal heart beating. Sometimes the heart may start to beat too fast due to this or too slow in some cases; heart may even stop at any time as well. This is when Sudden cardiac arrest comes in when arrhythmias is present making the heart stop beating all of a sudden.

Over 90 percent of the people who experience SCA just die within a few minutes. A fast treatment is needed, CPR along with an AED or automated external defibrillator is all what stands between life and death leaving no time for decisions. This is why AED are present today mostly everywhere in places like office buildings, government buildings, airports, etc. Many medical institutes are also giving CPR certification classes in afternoons; they are highly helpful in letting people know what and how to do things when someone gets a sudden cardiac arrest.

Sudden Cardiac Arrest and a heart attack are two different things so do not get confused among them. Heart attack occurs when any of the heart muscles is not getting blood flow due to a blockage in a vein or an artery. The heart does not give up beating right away in these cases. Although SCA may occur when one is in the recovery phase due to a heart attack.

Another strange thing is that people having heart diseases are at greater risk of getting a SCA but it often targets people who apparently are healthy and are not at risk of any heart diseases or its factors. So just live a clean and healthy life and leave the rest on luck since SCA gives another chance very rarely.
